Dancing Hearts

I love something different and creative. These Dancing Hearts are created by Reeds Weeds on Etsy

Dancing Hearts
Hearts are a common design. And in the old days were said to have been exchanged between lovers at harvest time. Of course traditions varied from place to place, the young man would have worn his heart on his belt, and the young woman, in her hair.

The Dancing hearts here intended design is a wall hanging but I think it could be used as a cake topper with a little ingenuity. See more of Reed Weeds Designs.

Bling Out Your Shoe

I know you just got some really, inexpensive shoes for the wedding. You figured why spend all that dough on something people won't see. Now you are rethinking that idea. You can fancy up that ...ummm cheap shoe, with a very expensive shoe clip.

Cocktail Bling is the high end alternative to adding some bling to a plain shoe. Take a look their collection of shoe brooches. They will make you want to do the Can Can.

The More You Order The More You Help

This announcement came on my Facebook Wall and wanted to pass this on to you. Denise Hanney of Spa Expectations Corporation is ordering 10 now and 10 during October which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Read below and connect to something important.

AnnieMae's Cheese Cake

For those who may not know Anniemae's Cheesecakes & Moore is named after my Grandmother who lost her battle with breast cancer, during breast cancer awareness month and 3 days before my birthday in October 2004. Not only did it claim the life of my grandmother but also my great-grandmother in 2001. Since then I have become an advocate for breast cancer awareness. To do my part I found a great organization Cancer Cares which offered me grief counseling in dealing with their deaths and to get a full understanding about breast cancer.

So on September 25th, my Mom's Birthday (who passed in 2006) I am launching our Sho Fly Cares Collection. We have made Pink Ribbon Ballerina Slippers with the Pink Ribbon emblem on them. A slipper will be placed on one of our large Cupcakes and presented in a pink box. Proceeds from the sale of each cupcake will go to Cancercare.Org.

Please join us in the fight against breast cancer. I know first hand how devastating this disease is and can be. Please help support an organization that helps those still battling breast cancer.
Each large cupcake & Shoe is $6

Warmly

Can't We All Just Get Along

When you know your sister doesn't like your groom, why give her mike....

"My cousin gave a horrible toast at her younger sister's wedding a few years ago. She began by saying that she never liked her sister's new husband throughout high school and that 'today he's still at the level of slightly below the scum on the bottom of a dirty waste pond.'"

This just makes the Thanksgiving dinner or any family gathering uncomfortable.

Good Intentions Gone Bad

I think on paper, this toast was clever, but then at the wedding it was just awkward....

"To the bride and groom--60% or marriages end in divorce and in the rest, you live happily until death. Here's hoping you die."

Oh No He Didn't!

Ever put your toast in the toaster and expect a nice golden brown hot slice of bread that you can spread your butter on? Then it pops out and it's either too light or burned to a crisp, wrong. Well that's like a wedding toast, you expect the something warm, loving, and maybe a bit gooey, but what you get is....

"When the father of the bride was giving his speech, the bride's in-laws were all chatting and laughing. The mother of the bride had had way too much to drink, got a hold of the microphone, and told off the groom's entire family, saying they were all going to hell! She then turned to the groom and told him that she hoped they would divorce soon because he's the worst human being she'd ever met. The couple is still married almost 20 years later, but they do not celebrate their anniversary."
-- Jennie, Pittsburgh, PA

Well they did get their revenge by living well and long.

In Her Mom's Image

Kim came to me, with what most would consider an impossible deadline. She only gave me a little over 2 weeks. Kim was nervous about all the "to do's" that kept adding up and then at the 2 week mark she made decision, I would recreate the essence of her mom's dress. She emailed me a photo and I created a silk shantung, tea length gown, with some beading around the neckline. It was the perfect dress for the small intimate ceremony at the home she grew up in.
The photo above is the night before, she stood by door for her sister to see (she was in the car double parked, I was going to give up my spot. It's a NY thing). She said she looked like mom. It was the best compliment I could have received.

The headpiece designed by Beauloni Style

Dear Cassandra,

Everything was absolutely lovely last Saturday - it was so sweet! One of my friends shot some candid shots with my little camera, so these aren't the greatest to see the dress itself, but the professional photographer should have some nice ones.

Everyone recognized what we were doing with the dress & loved the idea. Mom's picture was on a stand right up front in her dress.

Now I have to figure out what we're doing for October.....!

Thanks again for giving me such a beautiful way to wear my mom's dress.

Big hugs,
Kim

Yep we are planning for a BIGGER wedding in just ummmm 4 weeks!

A Really Sweet Idea

As you know The African Bride and I are in a search for African American Cake toppers. This is a REALLY SWEET idea and although this seems like a stretch, wink wink, it is truly for couples who are sweet on each other. It only is about 2" so it may be cute on a cupcake.
The search continues....

The Perfect Dress

The wedding day was fast approaching. Everything was ready, and nothing could dampen Jennifer's excitement, not even her parents' nasty divorce. Her mother Sheila finally found the PERFECT dress to wear and would be the best dressed mother of the bride EVER!

A week later, Jennifer was horrified to learn her new young stepmother, Barbie, had purchased the same dress. She asked Barbie to exchange the dress, but Barbie refused, "Absolutely not! I'm going to wear this dress; I'll look like a million in it!"

Jennifer told her mother, who graciously replied, "Never mind dear. I'll get another dress, after all it's YOUR special day, not hers.".

Two weeks later, another dress was finally found. When they stopped for lunch, Jennifer asked her mother, "What are you going to do with the first dress? Maybe you should return it. You don't have any place to wear it."

Sheila grinned and replied, "Of course, I do, dear! I'm wearing it to the rehearsal dinner!"

Hoped you smiled.

Marraige Brooms

Brooms by Little John are handcrafted brooms from all natural broom corn and the handles are made from selected woods. Harvesting the wood and growing some of the broom corn himself gives each broom it's own personality. There are many brooms to choose from but this unique double broom is the perfect for your broom jumping ceremony. And even though these brooms are fully functional they are crafted so well you will hang it up over the bed for good luck.
