112 Weddings

YOONHEE & TOM - Wedding #43 |
Doug Block, a documentary filmmaker, who also shoots weddings, had a question......what happens after the perfect day and was it the best day of their lives. He went back and interviewed some the couples he shot. Some have divorced, deal with dept, while others have children with difficult medical realities, and then even though it's hard there are couples who are happy and wouldn't change a thing.
After watching 112 Weddings, I wonder what has happened to some of my brides that I connected with during the making of their dress. All I can say is, I pray they are living extraordinary lives.

Weirdly and Wonderfully Out Of Order
It's weeks later and your wedding memories come flooding back in some strange order. Cutting the cake, dancing with Dad, the walk down the aisle, the laughter the food, it has no rhyme or reason, they are wonderful memories coming in for a visit.
I search You Tube and Vimeo for creative wedding videos. Most go in a particular order. See the bride get ready, see the groom get dressed, watch the wedding, see the bridal party take photos....zzzzzzzz. They all begin to look alike, despite there are different couples celebrating their wedding day.
When I saw one of Mr. Thomas's videos, I fell in love with this style, it's unique and creative. I call it Weirdly and Wonderfully out of order. It feels like more like an Independent movie than an average wedding video. Andrew Thomas's team loves what they do which helps them create a visual odyssey of a day that is filled with love (read more and see more).

Super 8 Super Cool
Super 8mm Film is a cool way to finish off a Vintage Style Wedding. It is a hot old trend that is getting a well deserved boost. Creative videographers, can put a spin on your wedding memories that will have you watching for years and years.
Kristian, owner of Bliss Productions, took her Great Grandparents 16mm wedding video, which was transferred by Spectra Film and Video. She then shot more recent footage and edited it in to the final piece. It is truly a blessing that the film is so perfect so many years later. Read more
Below MK Super-8 shows you their creative process.

This old/new way of documenting the day has become all the rage. Many videogphers are specializing in the area and you can see amazing of examples on Vimeo or Google Super 8 Wedding Videos.
Below is a video I created from old photos, and then with a click I made the photos look even older. It's Super Cool.

Saved!
Yes! Praise the Lord! Marriage can save a lives. I had been hearing about the documentary, You Saved Me, which will tell the story of REAL HAPPILY MARRIED African-American couples. The stats for African-Americans and marriage are disappointing to say the least. Tired of it, the numbers game and happy that this will, at least, speak to the power of couple hood.
For those in Chicago there will be a viewing:

Confetti That You Can Rent
At 8:30 in this morning, a friend of mine called me hysterically laughing. She asked if I had heard of the movie Confetti. I had not, she was so sure that I would enjoy it and so I believe you will too. It was released in September, but now available on video. The premise is, Confetti (bridal magazine) follows 3 couples that duke it out for "The Most Original Wedding Of The Year". The themes include nudists, a Busby Berkly musical, and a couple of clowns the conclusion can only be hilarity. It is Confetti that you can rent. Watch the trailer below:

Couture vs Haute Couture
Couture and Haute Couture have been tossed around like beach balls. Companies have used it as a marketing tool to make the customer feel "special". Describing denim jeans, cakes, paint and other stuff that has nothing to do with clothing.
Couture actually means to manufacture and create clothing for clients specifications, measurements, in beautiful fabrics. The origins of the word is 1920 French for dress making, sewing.
Then there is Haute Couture, the high art of dress making. Garments are perfected usually all by hand. Pleats, beading, ruffles, on gowns, suits, coats made in the most beautiful fabrics. Some material woven just for one garment. It can cost as much as a small country. The world of Haute Couture is fading fast. Don't get me wrong there will always be beautiful gowns but the Haute Couture customer does not exist in the numbers to support the industry. It will no longer be in demand. Evolution is inevitable and what the next generation brings to fashion is how we grow.
Which brings me to Valentino: The Last Emperor. This documentary is extraordinary. Outlining his remarkable career and lifestyle. What I love about this designer is he takes no shorts, makes no excuses, and loves what he loves. Choices, are key to living a life of excellence. I found the movie inspiring, funny, thoughtful and unforgettable.

Make A Movie Date
I love the movies and have not been in such a long time, this one looks like a good one for new and old relationships. Do something wonderful today for each other.
If you prefer to stay home and snuggle, take a look at these titles. They are priced right and you can pop your own popcorn and have as much butter as you like.

More Beautiful Weddings
I have shared with you my One True Media Beautiful Weddings video. It is fast easy and anyone can do it.
Well I've made another one, HELP ME SPIELBERG! View it below.
My goal is to show you the diverse clients. Some are traditional, they love beautiful fabrics, excellent fit and crystals added for sparkle. Others want to express themselves through color, short and untraditional fabrics like denim. Although they are far apart in style they share a common goal and that is to be fabulous on their special day.

Beautiful Weddings
I love creating beautiful dresses, but what I really want to do is
DIRECT!
DIRECT!
You may have read about One True Media in Brides Magazine, a few months ago. So I did a little research and made a montage of still pictures. The process was simple, all you have to do is upload, create, and pack your bags for Hollywood. Best of all for the standard packages (which is what I used), it's FREE. You can share your movie with your family and friends. This is the perfect site for your wedding photos. Premium service offers more options like text and some special effects. Nice stuff but if you are just beginning go easy and just use the standard package, move up when you get more experienced.
Here are some of my tips:
- For best results pictures should be in a high dpi like 300
- Pull back on the graphics and special effects. It is all very cool but too much will make your montage very busy.
- Pick your music wisely. One True Media has a nice selection, but please don't use Amazing, it has been used again and again and again and again, you understand.
- Choose pictures that tell you a story about the event or about the person.
- If you purchase a DVD the quality is higher than what you are seeing online.
- Enjoy the process, if you get a little emotional and nostalgic, that's good, everyone else will too.
See my movie
