Designer Cake Event Coverage

On a beautiful sunny day in Brooklyn, Heavenly Crumbs Cake Boutique ovens are turned on for a full day of tasting.

Shannon; owner of Heavenly Crumbs and master baker.

Shannon's crew is up early creaming, mixing, baking, only the best ingredients for her regular clients.

For our special event we combined a little wine (compliments of 231 Greene Liquors), a little design, and everything was fine.

Decor was created by Maximum Glory, Maxine Baxter 718-941-1627 Gloria Cones 718-377-1972.

I love how they arrived to the event. Maxine's Husband said "This is his weekend car". I said "I have one too, it's the same as the weekdays". These Stylish Divas can decorate your event and/or your home. Their ideas are unique, filled with creativity.

10 of our first guest received a little shopping bag of goodies.

Thank you to by nubar for our Merlot polish. It is a fabulous color for fall. Many brides go for the pastel, light colors, some of you out there want to be bold. Also read by nubar's blog, it's filled with beauty news you can use (I'm so clever).

Early arrivals get the goods

Business is brisk for Shannon and she has great support from many other business.

Monique Greenwood of Akwaaba Mansion.

Left to right Sherri Hobson-Green of Beauloni Style also a member of the Shop Bed Stuy Alliance. Anu Prestonia of Khamit Kinks.

Recommendations:

Cassandra: Cupcakes galore! I just loved the Chocolate with Rasberry frosting. Of course all are really good. She has so many combinations you must come for a month to try each one.

Maxine and Gloria: This is a must, get your holiday order in now, hands down, the biscuits are fabulous! I got one warmed up after their glowing review and even Sherri said "You didn't even give me a piece". She put three away to take home (I wonder if it made it home?). When I told Maxine there was only one left, she leaped up out of her seat and disappeared into the shop. She got the last one for the day. Sunday I was back for 2 more. The cakes are great, wine is fine, but show up to your family gatherings with these biscuits. They won't stop raving about them.

The Financial Wedding Shower

At the hieght of planning for your wedding, it can get a little scary. You will begin to ask yourself several questions.

  • Will there be enough money to pay all the vendors?

  • How much money will we get from our family and friends?

  • I wonder if he makes as much money as he says he does?

  • Why does she have so many shoes and can't she do her own nails.

  • Maybe we can serve jello instead of cake, why is it $10 a slice (as you sip your mocha chino latte grande whatever)

  • I wonder how much we will get if we do that dollar dance.

  • Why can't her mother pay for her own dress?

  • Why does the wedding have to be so big?

Pay the preacher, why do we have to pay the preacher. Isn't he serving God when he marries us. Can't God pay him, *#!?!!

These questions may wake you up at night accompanied by sweats and shakes. Financial concerns are a real threat to a happy marriage. It is the number one cause for divorce in this country.
On September 20th 2007 MetLife put couples on the right track at the Financial Wedding Shower. If you missed it here are some high lights and pictures of the event.

Robin Vetere and Dwight Raighford led the shower with a healthy discussion about money. Often there is a lack of communication. One spouse overspends, the other obsesses. No one is on the same page and each spouse begins to resent the other.

Some couples are on the same page and fill their life up with stuff. The problem is that stuff includes dept. Big screen TV's, fancy cars, living out of your price range is foolish. It also puts your integrity in jeopardy because you are living a lie.

Robin and Dwight go one on one with a couple

Ignorance is bliss, NOT. Work hard to put your finances on the right track. The Financial Wedding Shower was created so couples can ask the right questions of each other. Dwight says, people are more willing to talk about their sex life then their money. For what ever reason, money, how much you make, what you owe, and having dept, comes under the heading of
NUN YA (none of your business)

After the seminar the couples toasted with Champagne and cupcakes.

Beautiful Weddings

I love creating beautiful dresses, but what I really want to do is

DIRECT!

You may have read about One True Media in Brides Magazine, a few months ago. So I did a little research and made a montage of still pictures. The process was simple, all you have to do is upload, create, and pack your bags for Hollywood. Best of all for the standard packages (which is what I used), it's FREE. You can share your movie with your family and friends. This is the perfect site for your wedding photos. Premium service offers more options like text and some special effects. Nice stuff but if you are just beginning go easy and just use the standard package, move up when you get more experienced.

Here are some of my tips:

  • For best results pictures should be in a high dpi like 300

  • Pull back on the graphics and special effects. It is all very cool but too much will make your montage very busy.

  • Pick your music wisely. One True Media has a nice selection, but please don't use Amazing, it has been used again and again and again and again, you understand.

  • Choose pictures that tell you a story about the event or about the person.

  • If you purchase a DVD the quality is higher than what you are seeing online.

  • Enjoy the process, if you get a little emotional and nostalgic, that's good, everyone else will too.
